The Standard Model Prediction for ε′/ε
نویسنده
چکیده
We present a detailed analysis of ε/ε within the Standard Model, taking into account the strong enhancement through final–state interactions identified in refs. [1] and [2]. The relevant hadronic matrix elements are fixed at leading order in the 1/NC expansion, through a matching procedure between the effective short–distance Lagrangian and its corresponding low–energy description in Chiral Perturbation Theory. All large logarithms are summed up, both at short and long distances. Two different numerical analyses are performed, using either the experimental or the theoretical value for ε, with compatible results. We obtain Re (ε/ε) = (1.7±0.9) ·10−3 . The error is dominated by the uncertainty in the value of the strange quark mass and the estimated corrections from unknown 1/NC–suppressed local contributions. A better estimate of the strange quark mass would reduce the uncertainty to about 30%. The Standard Model prediction agrees with the present experimental world average Re (ε/ε) = (1.93 ± 0.24) · 10−3 .

2DV Nonlinear k-ε Turbulence Modeling of Stratified Flows
The commonly used linear k-ε turbulence model is shown to be incapable of accurate prediction of turbulent flows, where non-isotropy is dominant. Two examples of non-isotropic flows, which have a wide range of applications in marine waters, are saline water flow and the stratified flows due to temperature gradients. These relate to stratification and consequently, variation of density through...
متن کاملFINAL STATE INTERACTIONS IN ε ′ /ε a
Strong final state interaction (FSI) effects can play a central role in the Standard Model prediction of weak K → 2π matrix elements. Here, I discuss how FSI's affect the direct CP violation parameter ε ′ /ε by solving the Omnès problem for the necessary K → 2π amplitudes. The main results of this analysis have been reported in a previous paper 1 and are further discussed in Refs. 2,3. The resu...
متن کاملInternal combustion engines in cylinder flow simulation improvement using nonlinear k-ε turbulence models
The purpose of this paper is to studying nonlinear k-ε turbulence models and its advantages in internal combustion engines, since the standard k-ε model is incapable of representing the anisotropy of turbulence intensities and fails to express the Reynolds stresses adequately in rotating flows. Therefore, this model is not only incapable of expressing the anisotropy of turbulence in an engine c...
متن کاملTheoretical Status of Ε
The Standard Model prediction for ε ′ /ε is updated, taking into account the most recent theoretical developments. The final numerical value, ε ′ /ε = (17 ± 6) × 10 −4 , is in good agreement with present measurements.

In this paper a new macroscopic k-ε model is developed and validated for turbulent flow through porous media for a wide range of porosities. The morphology of porous media is simulated by a periodic array of square cylinders. In the first step, calculations based on microscopic v2 − f model are conducted using a Galerkin/Least-Squares finite element formulation, employing equalorder bilinear ve...
